Research
Lou Tice and The Pacific Institute have become interpreters of the research coming out of the fields of cognitive and behavioral science. "Most folks wouldn't, or couldn't, take the time to wade through the oftentimes complicated results of the experts? research. If something is too complicated, then proper attention isn't being paid to it. This is important research, for individuals and for organizations. Diane and I see it as our mission to make these results accessible to everyone, no matter where you live."
The foundation for all of The Pacific Institute's programs is built on the research of some of the most pre-eminent psychologists of the 20th Century. The "social learning theory" of Dr. Albert Bandura, of Stanford University, has revolutionized the field of psychology. His work is so frequently cited in textbooks, professional journals and surveys of professional opinion, that he was listed as #4 on the list of "The 100 Most Eminent Psychologists of the 20th Century" - behind Skinner, Piaget and Freud - as reported in the Review of General Psychology, Haggbloom, Steven J., et.al, 2002, Vol. 6, No. 2, 139-152.
Dr. Martin E. P. Seligman, of the University of Pennsylvania, during his presidency of the American Psychology Association, turned the field of patient-oriented psychology around. Because of his research into optimism vs. pessimism, and the attitudes fostered by those beliefs, he urged the profession to look at what is right with people, instead of what is wrong. Then, using the strength of what is right with the person/patient, and working on improving what is "wrong".
Dr. Gary Latham, consultant to corporations across North America, and an endowed professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Management, is one of the most popular speakers today on the subject of Performance Motivation. Never the stereotyped "psych professor", Dr. Latham's presentations are thought provoking, as well as entertaining, as he focuses in on why organizational goals go awry. Dr. Latham has recently completed a term as the President of the Canadian Psychological Association, which has officially endorsed The Pacific Institute's curricula.
Many more individuals have contributed their knowledge and discoveries, continually adding to the rich fabric of The Pacific Institute's programs and processes.
